My name is Donna Falcone and I live in the United States.
After more than thirty years in Early Childhood Education, helping children, college students, and teachers find their creative voices, I finally have discovered my own through singing, writing, and, quite recently, visual art. Isn’t it funny how that works?
My first experimentation with alcohol inks on tile was in June of 2015, back when I thought creating art was something other people did. However, these friendly and colorful materials welcomed me into the process and changed my mind forever. I quickly developed a preference for abandoning the traditional tools of painting. When I use alcohol inks my preference is not for brushes or pens. I prefer to move the inks across the tiles using the sheer forces of nature; fire, forced air, gravity, and centrifugal force. I feel a strong synergy with the colors as they lead me. My favorite pieces have come from places of pure playfulness.
Because of the fumes (and the flames), the winter months force me indoors, but I don’t mind. This is a time for learning new skills and finding my way with different materials. Creating visual art has become one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel so blessed to be able to share it with you all. Thank you.
