Romy and Clare
Long before our professional training at Herron School of Art and Design and Depauw University respectively, we, Romy and Clare, played together in the small Midwestern town of Jasper, Indiana as children with mud and paint, flowers, trees, cats, kittens and colorful chickens.
After exploring our own paths in life, we returned to our hometown, started putting bright glaze to clay and making gifts for family and friends.
More requests followed until finally we found ourselves in business.
Now, more than 20 years later, we are working mothers and lifelong friends who love to make beautiful happy things. We have a passion for color on clay and are often inspired by the surrounding nature.
Along with a bit of whimsy, we incorporate those elements, textures, and rich colors into our work. Design-wise we think: the bolder, the better!
We design, drawn, carve, stamp, layer color, raku fire, and mosaic our artwork pieces in our little studio, a hundred-year-old grainery, nestled deep in the corn and soybean fields of southern Indiana.
We hope you enjoy our artwork as much as we love creating each piece!
