Csilla Toth - Wooldolls
I’m a Hungarian self-taught felt toy-maker.
I found wet felting technique to be the most fascinating and magical technique to create figures. It is because wet felting is an ancient technique using the most friendly natural material, wool, and because during the felting process the whole material is changing as the fibers are moving.
This continuous changing and moving influences the birth of a character created finally. Having been a theoretical linguist for many years I find this kind of “dialogue” between my idea and the material fascinating.
My felted toys have a unique character, though their common feature is that they are a bit whimsical and they all have a slight folkloric touch.
Folkloric - because of the technique I use and whimsical in their appearance.
Besides toys, I make small wool accessories too.
