PUCHKA Peru Tours
We are a small company built upon Fair/Ethical Trade ideals with the purpose of sharing some of the extraordinary, fascinating and magical textiles, folk art and traditions of Peru.
Our objective is to offer our participants the opportunity to travel off the tourist trail.
Our focus includes small-group, hands-on workshops with master spinners, weavers, knitters, embroiderers, braiders, musicians and gourd engravers from across Perú who come to work with us in our guesthouse.
We offer a 22 day Workshop Tour that that includes 8 days of workshops with Peruvian textile and folk artists:
Knitting with Rufina Huayra, Tapestry weaving with Maximo Laura (declared Peruvian “Human Living Treasure”), Hand Embroidery with Elena Nuñez, Machine Embroidery with Simona Cutipa, Braiding with Leon Taype and Gourd Carving with Florencio Sanabria.
We also visit Lima, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Cusco, Machu Picchu, and much more!
PUCHKA also offers a 12 day tour to Ayacucho/Huamanga to see the WARI/Huari archaeological sites; visit villages, markets, museums and the home and workshops of weavers, braiders, knitters, embroiderers, potters, sculptors, painters, tin-workers, retablo makers, mask makers, silversmiths, museums, markets and villages - a number of mini-workshops and lots of demonstrations are also included.
